Small Wardrobe

This wardrobe is perhaps five feet high. I like the applied decorations. As many of you know I love dark wood. Too bad I don't have room for it in house.

Bathroom scale

I liked the look (but not the price) of this old bathroom scale.

What a busy weekend

I always see little books like this. It is an area where I need to do more research. I know nothing about them. I also like the homoerotic connotations of the title. I see this sort of stuff all over. If I had the time i would make a blog called homoerotic antiques.

Antique Television

I can't say this is truly an antique. Although it is antiquated. I am not sure what one would do with this electronic relic. It would make for an interesting piece if you had a house large enough to display it. Still as a model of post war design it is pretty interesting. It's just so large and heavy.

Cast iron Amish family

Saw this cast iron Amish family at the flea market. Thought they looked neat. They stayed there. Still there is next week.

Antique laundry press

This was at the flea market this weekend. I passed it up. Don't see a huge market for it. However, I still think its neat.

German Jelly Mold

One of the best things from this past weekend was this German Jelly Mold. It has a beautiful glaze (that I failed to get a picture of) I did however get a picture of the mark, though I have not looked it up yet. The jelly or what have you, that you would mold in this piece comes out in the shape of a rabbit. There is a small chip on the rim but I don't think it detracts too much from the piece. I assume as always that this does reduce the price. I may pick it up this weekend. I won't pay the marked price, I know the dealer. I don't deal in ceramics too often but rabbits are almost always popular. This means I think I can sell it easily. An important consideration I have when things are easily breakable.

Creepy Doll

Sometimes you run into the creepy while shopping.

I don't know a thing about dolls. It is such a specialized area that I am a bit intimidated by it. I may get to it some day, but for now I just pass them up. I know they are a popular item. But there are other things I would like to focus my limited time on.

Also at the kitsch market

Is this statue from the flea market yesterday. It's still there if you have a yearn for it.

GE fan

I love this fan. I have reconditioned many a fan in the past two years. This one is nice but I can't make any money on it at its retail price.

Box of pens

I love stuff like this box if pens. There is some sort of interesting quality to it.

Booklet: Now I am a Fish and Seafood Expert!

Came across this at the flea market. I did not know what to do with it so I left it there. Still, I thought it was pretty neat. She almost smiles too much.

Flea market.

One of the places I hunt for antiques is the local flea market. It is a mix of junk, trash, household goods and various detritus of mankind. Sometimes there are good things to be had. Sometimes I can spend a couple hours looking around to find nothing. There are a few dealers there that do have nicer material, but I rarely buy from them because they already took their premium from buying previously. This means that I cannot profit from the resell. As you can see, in some places there is some digging to be done.

On this day my best find was a hand bound book from the Roycrofters. Not a rare one, but a good condition version of Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book. I picked it up for five dollars, and believe I can sell it for a little more. I also was supposed to pick up some Charter Oak silverware, but the chap that was supposed to bring it forgot it at home.
One thing I forgot to mention is how often I have to stop and wash my hands here. Not five minutes after I arrived I picked up a Navy WWII issue syrup pitcher and got sticky crap all over them.
